A little less to keep in your head
The idea on a walk. The decision in a meeting. The detail someone needs next week. We’re building Record to give them a shared home — so your team can stay present and pick up where it left off.
How we work
A useful record holds more than a summary. It keeps what people said, what they decided, and who’s doing what. These are the habits we’re building into Record, and practicing with our own team.
What we said, what we decided, and what happens next — together in one record.

Our story
Our first decision log became one more thing to keep up with. The context was already in our calls, notes, and conversations. So we changed the approach: bring those pieces together, make them easy to ask about, and let people check the details and make the call.
Our first decision log went unused. Keeping it up felt like homework on top of the work.
You: Why did we keep the Bloom site small?
So the café can open on Friday. A menu, opening hours, and a way to get in touch are enough for now. Online ordering can wait.
Launch Bloom’s website Friday. Maya sends the homepage preview Wednesday; Sam finishes the café photos Thursday.
What we believe
You shouldn’t have to remember where someone said something, or write a second set of notes to make it useful. Record connects the conversation to the decision and the next step. Ask a question, follow the source, and get back to the work.
You: Why did we change how Record works?
Keeping a log felt like extra work. The reasoning was already in our calls, notes, and conversations.
So we changed the approach: Record brings it together. People check the context and make the call.
Our first decision log went unused. People were busy doing the work, so we changed the product to gather context from the conversations already happening.
Our principles
Keep the why.
Conversations, notes, and decisions belong together. Keep the source close, so the reasoning doesn’t disappear when a meeting ends.People make the call.

A PGO, by design
Record.org is a PGO — a public-good organization. Our governance protects the mission, and our decisions are recorded for customers to inspect. After watching essential tools get acquired or shut down, taking years of context with them, we chose a structure built to preserve what organizations entrust to us.
Majority public-good ownership protects the mission through changes in leadership or ownership.
Our commitments are recorded and open to review. Changes come with a named owner and published reasoning.
Common questions

You do. Export complete records in open formats at any time. On-premises deployments stay within your boundary. Our charter forbids monetizing customer reasoning through training, resale, or otherwise. How do you make money?
Paid company workspaces and enterprise managed cloud fund Record and free nonprofit access. No ads, data products, or premium fees to access your own history. What if Record disappears?
Our PGO structure guards against a shutdown or mission-changing pivot. Portability is the backstop: your records remain intact, readable, and yours to run.Free for nonprofits
Small teams carry a lot. Record is free for nonprofits, so the conversations, decisions, and details stay with the team through every handover. More resources for the mission. Less to keep in your head.
Stay in the conversation. Keep the details with your team.
